March is sledding month. Traditionally we get big snows with lots of powder.
If snowmobiles aren't your thing you may just want to relax and observe
the wildlife. This month is a great time to view bighorn sheep as they're
feeding in the lower elevations. Typically we will see up to a hundred
sheep a day.
Good time to stay out of the mountains as spring is a volatile time of
year. However, if you like mud and high water, we can satisfy your cravings.
Late May & June
Backpacker and hiking month. We cater to those who are looking for a quieter
back country experience. Often lodge access is only available through
a 5 km. hike at this time of year. This is also a great time of year to
bird watch. Many neo-tropical birds will stage at Sheep Creek before heading
further north. A magic time to visit.
It's fishing time! Trophy bull trout exceeding 7 lbs. are available. This
is the month that the creek typically clears up and the fishing is hot.
Also enjoy the antics of our friend the Rufus Hummingbird. Our lodge is
the center of a large breeding population and we spend many enjoyable
hours watching their air shows.
What can you say about the lazy days of summer. Hiking, fishing, quading,
or just relaxing. Sheep Creek is the perfect get away for that summer
Great back country access as water levels have usually dropped. Wildlife
viewing and quading are popular activities this time of year. Many resident
hunters make use of the lodge as a base camp for their hunting adventures.
See the back country in all itís fall splendor.
October to December
It all depends on mother nature. Some years we can snowmobile, cross country
ski or tour an active working trap line. This is a very quiet and peaceful
time of year to be in the wilderness.
