The clinic opened its doors to patients in 1995 and since then has been a leader in the European medical arena. The medical facility performs more than 3,000 heart surgical procedures of varying complexity annually and has the status of the best highly specialized Heart Surgery Center. The therapeutic offer of the clinic includes all modern heart surgical procedures in adults, with the exception of heart and lung transplantation. The interventions are performed in four high-tech operating rooms. In addition, the clinic has a hybrid operating room for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). It should be noted that the clinic is certified as the Center for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation by the German Cardiac Society (DGK).

Patients rooms
The patients of the HELIOS Heart Surgery Clinic Karlsruhe live in cozy rooms with all the amenities. The patients are accommodated in double rooms during their treatment. For an extra fee one can stay in a single patient room. The standard room furnishings include an automatically adjustable bed, a bedside table, a desk and chairs, a TV and a telephone. Each patent room has an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet.
Meals and Menus
The patient and the accompanying person are offered a balanced and varied three meals a day. In the morning the patient has buffet style breakfast with a wide selection of pastries, cheeses, sausages and jams. Lunch can be chosen from three courses, including a vegetarian one. Dinner also consists of the dishes served buffet style. Tea or coffee of your choice is always served at every meal.
If for some reason you do not eat all the foods, you will be offered an individual menu. Please inform the medical staff about your dietary preferences prior to treatment.

Location
Karlsruhe is a beautiful German city in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located in the vicinity of the Rhine River, near the French border. This is a fairly young city founded by Margrave Charles Wilhelm in the first half of the 18th century. The Rhine Valley, in which the city lies, is the warmest and sunniest region in Germany. Karlsruhe is home to many administrative facilities, including the Federal Court of Justice of Germany and the German Federal Constitutional Court, so it is often called the city of officials.
A distinctive feature of Karlsruhe is the absence of a historical center with narrow winding streets. The heart of the city and its main attraction is the grandiose Baroque Karlsruhe Palace with a park. For two hundred years, the palace served as the main residence of the Margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden, while today it houses a Museum of History and Culture. Beautiful fountains, many statues in the Roman style, mighty immense trees along the alleys and much more awaits the tourist here. The palace is the beginning of 32 wide streets, which stretch in all directions in straight paths. The streets are connected by two ring roads. Thus, the bird's eye view of the city is fan-shaped.
Another attraction of the city is the Karlsruhe Pyramid, under which the founding father of the city, Margrave Charles Wilhelm, is buried. The historical monument is located in the very center of the Market Square. Not less interesting places are the Center for Art and Media, the State Art Gallery, the Gottesaue Palace and the Turmberg Hill. In addition, Karlsruhe has many impressive religious monuments, including the neo-Gothic Christ Church, the St. Stephen Church and Maulbronn – Germany's oldest Cistercian medieval monastery listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After exploring the historical sights of the city, one can go for a walk to the Botanical Garden (one of the oldest in Europe) or just walk in numerous parks of the city. The Guenther Klotz Park on the banks of the Alb River is the most popular recreation area among both tourists and locals.
